About Wyoming High School Theatre Arts Department
WTAD runs the plays and musicals at Wyoming High School in the Pendery Auditorium. Previous performances include Miracle Worker, Once Upon A Mattress, and Play On!. Under the direction of Ms.Laura Coomer, WTAD hopes to continue Wyoming City School's tradition of excellence on the stage.
Wyoming Theatre Arts Department, or, as we once called it, Wyoming Dramatic Arts Program (WDAP), began in its present form during the 1974-1975 school year. At that time, there was no high school auditorium, and our actors and technicians learned their art in our own Café Theatre, performing for audiences in the lot adjacent to theHigh School. Eventually, due to the success of our program and the leadership of our superintendent at the time, Dr. Gary Payne, the Troupe helped renovate and then moved to the Middle School auditorium during Wyoming City Schools’ centennial graduation year. That’s why the Middle School’s auditorium is called the Fay Centennial Auditorium. Our last performance there was the wonderful Anything Goes.
We then moved for our new and permanent home, at the Pendery Center for the Arts! We know how fortunate we are to have such an amazing facility for our artists and craftspeople, and for the enjoyment of our audience. WTAD is very grateful to you for your support, and we hope for your continued support during this exciting new season!
